Pete Codling was born in Zambia in 1969 to Anglo-Irish parents and was raised in Cornwall and Scotland before finally settling in Portsmouth. He studied at Wimbledon School of Art and the University of Portsmouth and has a Masters Degree in Art, Design and Media.
As a sculptor, his work ranges from large scale public art commissions to smaller, more intimate artist interventions and installations. He works outside the gallery in what he calls the ‘front line - away from galleries and academia - in the streets, tower blocks and estates of our cities’. Here he seeks to make a physical difference – contributing to the built environment and helping communities create a sense of place.
