The gravel area is surfaced with fine aggregate gravel set in epoxy resin, to represent the seashore. The large granite blocks are believed to be old dock wall stones and were recovered from an old industrial yard next to Fratton Park football ground in Portsmouth. You can still see the grooves left by the quarry splitting process.
